Mini Camera News: Smaller Cameras, Larger Interest

This size is only two / three the scale of other Sony machine vision camera modules which sometimes measures 57.5 Mm in depth or 2 three / 8 inches. This very compact and miniaturized size mixed with top quality image output make this module appropriate for applications where space is restricted.



This mini-camera employs the FireWire interface or what's often referred to as the IEEE 1394b I / F digital video serial bus interface which is the conventional interface used in fast digital communications and realtime info services. This is also the standard for all Sony PC's and audio-video devices but prior XCD camera modules only have a bandwidth of 800 Mbps while the MV6 can reach speeds of up to 1600 Mbps using the FireWire interface.



You might think this reduction in size could affect the videotape quality output from the camera, but the MV6 uses the most recent in FPGA technologies in its [*FR2] type wide VGA global shutter that will deliver high quality photographs, hi-performance levels but at just a tiny part of it energy usage levels. Other XCD camera modules have the same performance although not in a very compact and small package the MV6 features.



The MV6 is perfect for use with many commercial environments that have space constraints but require highres video output. Standard mini camera modules can cost from as low as $49.95 For cameras with black and white output, to as high as $199.95 For color output. The XCD-MV6 has a black and white output and will very likely have a ticket between these price ranges when it is created commercially available towards the end of the present year.
